spanish nationality shock plan

[simple-author-box]

As many of us might be aware, there is a significant blockage in the processing of Spanish nationality. Recently, the Ministry of Justice intends to resolve all pending nationality files that are currently being processed before November 30th, 2019. Exiting news form many that have been left pending.  In order to best understand the implications of this step forward, Lexidy wishes to further explain.

What does this shock plan for Spanish nationality imply?

The Ministry of Justice announced at the beginning of 2019 a shock plan which aims to unblock the processing of backlogged Spanish nationality application files. Recently, during the Spanish Nationality Congress that took place in Madrid, it has been announced that the shock plan will end on November 30th, 2019.

By then, it is expected that all the files submitted under the new procedure introduced in 2015 will have been evaluated by electronic means.

As reported, it is the intention of the Ministry of Justice that on November 30th, 2019 all Spanish nationality applications, that were submitted electronically and that are perfect, will be granted. That is all, except those that require additional documents.

Can we expect the administration to comply with this shock plan?

We will have to see if these plans come to fruition, given that it is a goal not easily achieved. The Ministry of Justice, when referring to the shock plan, talks about ALL the Spanish Nationality files currently being processed. However, in light of the sheer quantity, they might not be able to resolve all the nationality files submitted to date within such a short timeline.

Although it is true that in recent months there have been a lot more resolutions of Spanish Nationality applications than in the past years, largely thanks to the new recruitment of dedicated officials, for the time being, only the 25% of the applications submitted starting 2015 have been resolved.

We recommend you to be patient, as we understand that, during this month the number of notified resolutions of Spanish nationality applications should increase considerably, as it will continue to do in the future.
