Apply for the Internship Residence Permit for Spain! This residence permit will allow you to conduct an internship within an institution of your interest, where theoretical and practical education will be included, and in the same field and qualification level of your academic title.
What are the General Requirements for the application of the internship residence permit?
In order to apply for this residence permit, some requirements must be fulfilled by the applicant and the host institution in which the applicant will conduct the internship.
- Public or Private Health Insurance in Spain. It should be valid for the period of your residence in Spain and should be renewed automatically.
- Proving the obtention of a Higher Education Degree in the last two years, or that you are continuing the studies.
- Proving the signature of a work placement agreement, or an internship work contract, at the same qualification level as the higher education degree, or the higher education programme being pursued.
- You must dispose of sufficient economic means for your monthly upkeep, that is, 537,84€/month. If you prove the payment in advance of the housing, during the whole stay, the amount is reduced to 268.92€/month.
What is the procedure to get an Internship Residence Permit in Spain?
The application for this residence permit is done by the institution which will host you during the internship by electronic means. In this regard, we as your lawyer can submit the application on behalf of the institution.
Once the application is submitted and registered with the competent Immigration Office, it has up to 30 working days to resolve the application. Should it not be resolved during this period, the authorization will be granted by administrative silence.
If the authorization is granted and you were the holder of a valid student visa for Spain when the application was submitted, then you will be able to start the internship immediately. Otherwise, if you do not find yourself in Spain, it will be necessary to obtain a national visa during the next month after receiving the resolution granting the residence permit, before the Spanish Consulate of your place of legal residency.
If the residence permit is granted for less than 6 months, it will not be necessary to apply for the Foreigner Identity Card. Should it be granted for more than 6 months, you will have to apply for the card.
If this residence permit is applied under a work placement agreement, it can last for a maximum of 6 months, with the possibility of extending it for 6 additional months. Should you apply submitting an internship work contract then, the contract must have a validity of at least 6 months and a maximum of 2 years.
